Ameriprise Financial Government Affairs Coordinator (R24_0000002394) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

We have an exciting opportunity at Ameriprise to work as a Government Affairs Coordinator. In this role, you will provide support to the Government Affairs team, the scope of which includes both state and federal government affairs activities. Primary responsibilities will be focused on state and local legislative and regulatory issues and assisting the VP, Head of State Government Affairs. Come and apply today! Key Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following: Assist with tracking of state and local political, legislative, and regulatory developments that could impact the firm. Familiarity with legislative and regulatory tracking software very desirable. Draft written updates for use of key stakeholders, including regular communications to internal business partners and external stakeholders. Coordinate reporting of information and data to meet state and federal disclosure obligations related to public policy engagement. Attend and coordinate coverage of hearings, industry meetings, and other events as needed. Maintain grassroots and other key research and contact information which support engagement and lobbying efforts. Skilled in the use of Excel, leveraging Sharepoint, creation and editing of presentations in PowerPoint for internal and external presentations, and other software applications utilized by government affairs (BGOV, multi-state, etc.) Required Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent (2 years) 1 to 3 years of relevant experience Experience working to provide coverage in multiple jurisdictions preferred Proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences in a variety of mediums Excellent organizational and time management skills Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills Able to prioritize tasks, work independently and be part of a team Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent 1-3 years background and experience in public policy research, tracking legislation, and disclosure requirements related to lobbying and transparency Ability to learn and utilize new tools and technologies.
