HEAD OF WEALTH MANAGEMENT, DATA ENGINEERING AND ANALYTICS

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The ideal candidate for the Head of Wealth Management (WM), Data Engineering and Analytics role will be a seasoned professional with a strong background in both data engineering and analytics, particularly within the financial services sector. They will possess extensive experience in designing and implementing data strategies, leveraging advanced analytics techniques to drive business insights and innovation.

What you will do

As the Head of Wealth Management Data Engineering and Analytics, your role is to lead the creation and implementation of data strategies and solutions that provide business insights and bolster the wealth management division. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive data engineering and analytics strategy that is in line with the business goals of the entertainment banking, private banking and wealth management division. You will ensure that data initiatives foster growth, enhance client satisfaction, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Supervising the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of a scalable and robust data infrastructure. You will guarantee that the data architecture, data warehousing, and data pipelines adhere to the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security.

  • Guiding the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions, such as predictive and prescriptive analytics, to produce actionable insights. You will promote data-driven decision-making within the entertainment banking, private banking, and wealth management division.

  • Building, leading, and mentoring a top-tier team of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts. You will cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ongoing enhancement. You will align the team with the strategic objectives of the organization.

  • Collaborating closely with senior executives, business leaders, and other essential stakeholders to comprehend their data requirements and convert them into effective data solutions. You will ensure clear and consistent communication for aligned and successful project execution.

  • Implementing and upholding data governance policies and procedures to guarantee data precision, uniformity, and security. You will ensure adherence to regulatory mandates and industry benchmarks.

  • Keeping abreast of new data technologies and industry developments. You will lead the integration of innovative data solutions and new technologies to advance data capabilities and business results.

  • Creating and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of data initiatives

  • Align CNB’s Enterprise Data Governance with RBC’s evolving policies and procedures, and appropriate regulatory guidance.

  • Evolve and align various data-management standards, processes and procedures within CNB towards a set of common goals and objectives aligned with the technology strategy.

  • Establish centralized data quality metrics and enforcement and perform a comprehensive assessment of data needs and quality across the organization that aligns with data governance best practices.

  • Define and develop artifacts outlining data dictionaries, definitions, flows and lineage across various systems and business processes across the enterprise, and aligned with RBC’s data governance strategy where appropriate.

  • Identify opportunities and work with business stakeholders and partners to embed data management best practices into the daily operations and business processes across the enterprise.

  • Articulate the value of information in enabling business success, serve as a champion for data as a corporate asset, drive cultural change, and drive development and execution of business vision, and develop the banks data governance program.

  • Responsible and accountable for appropriate quality controls related to the financial products the bank provides, the services the bank delivers, the processes employed and the incentives with which colleagues are awarded.

In this role, you will play a critical role in shaping the data strategy and execution within the wealth management division. Your leadership will ensure that data initiatives support the business objectives, enhance client experiences, and drive innovative solutions that maintain our competitive edge in the market.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Data Management Practices and Processes

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Governance practice

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with People and Change Management

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role at a large financial institution

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven experience (15+ years) in data engineering, data science, and analytics roles within the financial services industry, particularly in wealth management.

  • Deep knowledge of data architecture, data warehousing, data pipelines, and advanced analytics.

  • Proficiency in big data technologies, cloud computing, machine learning, and AI.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in building, leading, and mentoring high-performing data engineering and analytics teams.

  • Ability to foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented culture.

  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic data roadmap that aligns with business objectives and drives data-driven decision-making.

  • Expertise in developing and deploying advanced analytics solutions, including predictive and prescriptive analytics.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on generating actionable insights.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with senior executives, business leaders, and other key stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand and translate business needs into effective data solutions.

  • Comprehensive understanding of data governance principles, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Experience in establishing and enforcing data governance policies and procedures.

  • Ability to stay informed about emerging data technologies and industry trends.

  • Commitment to driving innovation and continuous improvement in data capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. An advanced degree (Masters/Ph.D.) is preferred.

  • Deep understanding of the needs and expectations of wealth management clients.

  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences through data solutions.

  • Technology Expertise:

  • Proficiency in data engineering technologies and tools, including MDM, data warehousing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data integration platforms.

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka, and cloud-based data platforms such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse Analytics.

  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices, ensuring that data assets are managed securely and effectively.

Domain Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of financial data sources and datasets, including market data, customer transaction data, and regulatory reporting data.

  • Understanding of financial modeling techniques and methodologies, including risk modeling, portfolio optimization, and fraud detection.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the financial industry, ensuring that data initiatives adhere to relevant regulations.

Leadership and Strategic Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities, capable of leading a team of data engineers and analysts to develop and implement data-driven solutions that meet business objectives.

  • Proven track record of leveraging advanced analytics techniques (such as machine learning, predictive modeling, and natural language processing) to derive actionable insights and drive business value.

  • Strategic thinker, able to align data initiatives with strategic business goals and anticipate future data needs and trends.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms and effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technology expertise and domain knowledge to the role, enabling them to lead the development and implementation of data strategies that drive innovation and growth within the financial services industry.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $141,830 - $263,408 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
