Job ID361272 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyAthletics Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9791 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Summary of Position: This position has the primary responsibility of directing and coaching the nationally competitive Women's Golf Program in the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference. The position reports to the Deputy Athletics Director/Senior Women's Administrator. Duties: Coaching (50%) Selection, supervision, and coaching of the student-athlete's toward athletic excellence and a positive quality experience. Recommendation, supervision and evaluation of the Women's Golf coaching staff. Development, communications and execution of plans for the season, including competitive schedules, practice schedules and influence with training and conditioning programs. Planning, organizing, conducting of practice and effectively manage team dynamics Partnering with the full-time staff member dedicated to the academic performance and the physical development of student athletes. Working with academic counselors, athletic trainers, and the strength and conditioning coach to help student athletes achieve full potential in each area. Recruitment (20%) Organization and implementation of assessment, identification and recruitment of qualified student-athletes; demonstrate commitment to recruitment of BIPOC students. Manage the NCAA transfer portal each time the portal opens. Budget (10%) Preparation of budget recommendations and management of budget. Assistance in the preparation of travel arrangements, equipment orders, and awards for golf in conjunction with other department personnel. Manage the women's golf enhancement fund, ensuring partnerships with members of the Golden Gopher Fund officers who work with various women's golf Donors. Administration (20%) Assistance with special events and tournaments, planning and conducting of clinics, seminars, and outreach to public service. Establishment and maintenance of effective relationships within the athletics department, the University, community, booster club, alumni, high school coaches, media and the general public. Commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the department, the University, the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA. Complete the required forms and logs for NCAA Compliance. Consistently in touch with the local golf private/public golf courses that our SAs utilize on a regular basis. Continue to work with head men's golf coach on partnerships for M/Ws golf program (e.g. memberships at TPC golf course, the Mooty golf center, the shared sprinter van, etc.). Oversight of one full-time assistant coach and one volunteer assistant coach. Qualifications Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree Four (4) years of golf coaching experience at the collegiate level Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion fostering improved learning Demonstrated experience recruiting and working with highly skilled golfers at the collegiate level, or with national/regional golf programs Demonstrated ability to cultivate support in the broader local and regional golf community by way of first hand fundraising success Demonstrated ability to coach in the northern part of the country, where access to golf courses in the spring championship season, is delayed compared to other Institutions in the Big Ten Conference. Valid Driver's License Preferred: Coaching Experience and progression within college golf (further preference given to current college coaching) Demonstrated recruiting success in a successful collegiate program Demonstrated knowledge of coaching and developing student-athletes Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules Demonstrated commitment and understanding of academic performance of prospective and current student-athletes NCAA postseason experience at the D I level About the Department With more than 140 years of tradition, Gopher Athletics is one of the oldest and most decorated thletics departments in the country.
