The person in this role should be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, collaborate effectively with others and maintain high standards in keeping with the team's commitment to excellence. Based on the University's campus in St. Paul, we offer a hybrid work environment and flexibility. The marketing and communications specialist reports to the director of communications and works closely with the entire team. The range for this position is $58K-63K. Job Responsibilities Digital communications support - 50% -Prepares and schedules internal and external messages. Request queries for external emails. -Designs email and newsletter templates. Works with stakeholders to develop new templates and refreshes existing templates as needed. -Maintains email lists in collaboration with marketing and communications manager. Requests updated lists on a regular basis. -Translates existing features into social media posts and develops original content and campaigns in alignment with the audience and format for each platform. -Maintains social media calendar and schedules posts using social media management software. -Identifies opportunities to grow engagement on social platforms and increase the number of followers. Website coordination - 25% -Responds to requests for website updates from faculty and staff (faculty profiles, department/unit staff, etc) and monitor Siteimprove for broken links and typos. -Works with marketing and communications manager and web developer to make improvements, and ensure accessibility and brand alignment -Reviews and approves web content submitted by web editors, ensuring that it adheres to style guidelines. -Builds web pages, tests new features, and collaborates with stakeholders to implement website enhancements and fixes as needed. -Support the development, launch, and maintenance of secondary websites and microsites including the college's intranet Design support - 20% -Prepares weekly departmental seminars newsletter and assists with other newsletters in collaboration with team members. -Develops flyers promoting internal and external opportunities (seminars, events, etc) -Manage shared libraries of digital/visual/audio content and brand assets. -Regularly update digital display slides. Create slides for stakeholders (Itasca, Student Services) -Creates signage for collegiate events as needed. Administrative/other - 5% -Manages CBS branded-item inventory. Orders new products as needed. -Provide marketing and communications support for collegiate events and assistance the day of the event. -Complete purchasing process for Communications initiatives and events Qualifications Qualifications Required qualifications -BA/BS degree plus at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least 6 years. -Experience working with web content management systems, mass email and social platforms, and productivity tools -Versatile communicator with strong writing skills and a firm grasp of grammar and style -Ability to manage multiple projects and activities, be responsive and meet deadlines -Ability to work independently and take initiative while remaining collaborative -Organized Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred qualifications: -Proficiency in Wordpress, Buffer, Drupal, Mailchimp, Salesforce or similar platforms -Knowledge of Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) -Experience developing and coordinating social media content Knowledge of accessibility standards in digital environments -An interest in the biological sciences and/or mission-driven work -Familiar with style guides and a focus on consistency -Strong visual communication skills and experience with graphic design and photography -Experience working in a higher education context Benefits Working at the University At the University of Minnesota, you'll find a flexible work environment and supportive colleagues who are interested in lifelong learning.
