Or are you a freelancer looking for a steady income and work? The Marketing Communications Strategist is the part-time position for you. This position plays a key role in strengthening the University of Minnesota Alumni Association's communications, brand image and reputation. The Marketing Communications Strategist will provide comprehensive consultation and communications service to the Alumni Association's Engagement Team and their multiple initiatives to engage specific alumni audiences. This role sits within the Communications team and reports to the Director of Communications. This person will serve as a central communications and marketing manager for the Engagement Team. Salary range for this position is $30,000-$35,000. The University of Minnesota Alumni Association offers flexible working options with a "go where the work is'' philosophy to remote work. Specifics will be discussed during the interview stage. Job Duties: Communications, Marketing and Branding Strategist (25%) Serve as a communications liaison to the Engagement team and work closely with Alumni Association's internal and external partners Provide strategic communications and marketing direction to ensure Engagement team members have proper communications and marketing plans for their initiatives, which includes having the right messages that will be compelling to the key audiences Determine appropriate channels to fulfill a communications and marketing need or address an identified business challenge Assist with and maintain the Alumni Association's brand strategy, which is consistent with University brand standards Collaborate with the Engagement team members to establish metrics for their communications/marketing efforts Ensure effective communications and marketing tactics are followed from start to finish of the campaign Identify and resolve barriers to meeting communications and marketing objectives Provide leadership on identifying key audiences for the Engagement team's initiatives Contribute to strategic discussions around marketing and communications efforts Editor/Writer (25%) Editing and proofreading Engagement team communications and marketing materials for grammar, punctuation, accuracy, etc. Establish and maintain editorial standards for owned channels Partner with Engagement team members to create creative communications and marketing materials that are compelling and high-quality Manage the "Stay Connected" section of the Minnesota Alumni magazine, which is dedicated to amplifying the Alumni Association's efforts to engage alumni quarterly Responsible for translating work into a project management system used by all Alumni Association staff Review, support and counsel the Director of Communications on assets created for key reputation initiatives Maintains a dedication to the Alumni Association's goals that encourage equity and diversity 100% of the time. Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS degree in communications, journalism, marketing, art or related field Excellent writing, editing, grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills Experience writing for a variety of media Proficiency in MS Office Preferred Qualifications Minimum of eight years of professional marketing/communications experience, including coordinating multiple marketing and communications initiatives Ability to think creatively Strong verbal communication skills Ability to handle multiple tasks Very detailed oriented Excellent interpersonal skills Outstanding project management skills Ability to use a project management system Experience following an institution's style guide About the Department The Univers ty of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) fosters a lifelong spirit of belonging and pride by connecting alumni, students, and friends to the University of Minnesota and each other.
