Apply for Job Job ID362242 LocationAll Other -See Job Description Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job WORKING TITLE: Apple Picking Support SUPERVISOR: Farm Manager JOB CODE / CLASSIFICATION: 0001 Hourly Wage: $18.00/hour JOB DESCRIPTION 75% Apple picking * Picking fruit by color and condition * Load and move fruit delicately in bushel boxes * Hand pick and carry with a worn picking bucket 25 % Apple Sales and Grading Support * Unload field crates and bulk boxes of apples from trucks * Learn and follow Apple House policies and procedures. * Sort apples based on size, condition , color and maturity * Carefully place apples in bags and boxes for sale * Price bags and boxes * Correctly label tables and bulk displays * Insure that display of merchandise and apples is adequately stocked and presented. * Keep applehouse and grading area clean and organized * Answer customer questions while you are on the sales floor. * Remove poor quality apples from sales floor or discount for quick sale * Assist with other jobs in the Applehouse as needed Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be able to routinely lift and move 50 lbs * Able to read, write, and understand English language * Ability to sort by color * Must be able to follow oral and written instructions * Able to work in a variety of work environments * Ability stand up for 4-6 hours continuously. * Successful completion of a background check About the Department The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.
