Apogee Services Inc. General Description An Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring successful operation of enterprise-wide architectures and applications in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the Apogee businesses. This individual is responsible for development and deployment of standard devices, server and storage architectures based on best practice design, configurations, and security policies. In this role, the incumbent will: Configure, install, and maintain infrastructures (desktop, server, network, VOIP, storage) and applications at all Apogee locations Estimate, plan and execute infrastructure and application platform related project tasks Analyze, plan, and document changes to improve performance and accommodate growth Proactively monitor and resolve cyber security, quality, and technical issues to ensure security and outstanding customer service to the business Incident and Major Incident Management Configure, install, and maintain infrastructures (desktop, server, network, VOIP, storage) and applications at all Apogee locations: Maintain, enforce and support enterprise-wide architectures and applications that align with business and IT strategies Configure, install and maintain standard desktop images, physical and virtual servers and storage arrays Level II (Additional Responsibilities) Partner with other IT teams to create and execute other infrastructures related to IT strategic initiatives Estimate, plan and execute infrastructure and application platform related project tasks: Measure duration of actual tasks to estimate in relation to scope, time and budget Successfully execute project related tasks on time as assigned Level II (Additional Responsibilities) Develop small to medium sized infrastructure and applications related project plans Execute small to medium sized project tasks to plan with minimal supervision Analyze, plan, and document changes to improve performance and accommodate growth: Analyze server, VOIP and storage performance across the infrastructure, detecting operational problems and recommending improvements to ensure optimal performance Ensure and support proactive monitoring of the network, server, storage, Active Directory, Exchange, and database environments Ensure all aspects of the desktop, network, server and storage, and database environments are thoroughly documented and kept up to date Proactively monitor and resolve cyber security, quality, and technical issues to ensure security and outstanding customer service to the business: Setup and monitor cyber security tools, and respond to alerts to ensure cyber resiliency Implement desktop, server and storage backup and recovery plans to maintain reliability Monitor trends in documented incidents and determine appropriate actions necessary to eliminate future occurrences and improve customer service levels in appropriate time frame Respond with appropriate sense of urgency to problems and escalate appropriately Level II (Additional Responsibilities) Transfer knowledge and mentor other members of the team Supervise escalation events to ensure responsiveness to problem solving Incident and Major Incident Management: Monitor and process individual and team tickets In the event of a major incident, Operations Engineers fill the role of Incident Commander (IC) The IC's primary focus is following the Major Incident Process to organize a rapid response to quickly mitigate the issue and get back to a service available state Minimum Requirements BS; MIS, Computer Science or equivalent work experience required Level I - 2+ years and level II - 4+ years of progressive IT related experience Understanding of application, database, server, and operating system layers in an enterprise environment Basic understanding of network topology and monitoring Experience monitoring and adjusting file system and database capacity Clear and articulate communication skills at all levels of the organization Solid verbal, written and presentation skills Extremely strong client service orientation Strategic and critical thinking Analytical and problem solving skills Physically able to lift up to 30 pounds of equipment Be available for on-call rotations Travel as needed up to 10% #LI-TV1 Apogee and our brands are an equal opportunity employer.
