Job ID359539 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8352R2 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job Reporting Structure: This is a non-management position within Experimental Surgical Services, which is part of the Department of Surgery, within the University of Minnesota Medical School, within the Academic Health Center at the University of Minnesota Department: Department of Surgery General: Experimental Surgical Services is a preclinical research lab that performs non-clinical research for the purpose of the research and development of medical devices, physician training, new surgical techniques, and other academic projects requiring the use of large and small animal models. ESS serves as a core resource across the University to support interdepartmental and intercollegiate cross-disciplinary research goals. Additionally, ESS performs and supports externally sponsored research studies for regulatory applications investigating patient safety. Basic Function: The Data and Compliance Analyst (Analyst) reviews and monitors data collected during the conduct of ESS laboratory research activities. This role requires in depth understanding of ESS laboratory data collection practices and laboratory-specific standards. The Analyst is required to communicate effectively and work cooperatively in a dynamic cross-functional research team. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: Data and Compliance Analyst Duties * Reviews laboratory generated raw data and supporting documentation for internal accuracy, consistency, and conformance with ESS Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant regulatory guidance. * Implements proper data organizational practices in line with ESS Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant regulatory guidance. * Creates and maintains digital files of raw data for accessibility and long-term retention. Applies a thorough understanding of data compliance for a broad range of regulatory issues. * Performs raw data review and organization for laboratory use. * Transcribes data from multiple sources into the electronic record. * Evaluates departmental data processes for improvement opportunities and proposes solutions. * Communicates effectively with laboratory staff regarding data collection practices. * Works collaboratively with the Preclinical Research Operations Coordinator, other laboratory staff, and students. * Responsible for routinely reporting the status of data collection practices to ESS Laboratory Leadership. * Is professional, positive and polite in all interactions within the ESS Laboratory. Supervision Received: This position reports to the ESS Laboratory Research Director. Supervision Exercised: None Qualifications Qualifications / Requirements: * Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a scientific discipline or equivalent with 1 year of related experience or combination of education and work experience to equal 5 years. * Prior experience working in a capacity in the ESS Laboratory is highly preferred. * A minimum of one years' experience working in a GLP-regulated research environment. * Requires current training ESS SOPs throughout employment * Requires current and annual Good Laboratory Practices training throughout employment Physical Demands: * Standing and sitting for long periods is required for this position. * Must work flexible weekly hours with core lab hours of 7:00am - 3:30pm. Non-Physical Demands: * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) * Proficient in Adobe software platform * Proficient in the Google Application Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
