The pathological image, especially hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) of tissue slide that captures histologic details in high resolution, has become a routine clinical procedure for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Over the past years, artificial intelligence (AI), especially the representation deep learning methods, have demonstrated great performance in many clinically relevant tasks. The job is to implement the AI-based digital pathology diagnostic assays, ranging from low-level tasks focused around object recognition problems such as detection and segmentation to higher-level tasks such as predicting tumor diagnosis and prognosis, aiming to provide additional valuable information for oncologists to perform cancer risk stratification, new biomarker discovery, and patient selection for targeted therapies.
