Robert Half Safety Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Description

We are seeking a skilled Safety Manager with experience overseeing safety protocols on specialized projects, preferably within the construction industry. This role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance across all project sites. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction safety management, an eye for detail, and a proactive approach to mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams in creating and implementing tailored safety plans for other project types.

  • Ensure alignment of safety protocols with regulatory standards, best practices, and internal guidelines.

  • Oversee weekly site safety audits, ensuring compliance and proper documentation by site supervision.

  • Perform regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess overall safety conditions.

  • Manage and track the company’s inventory of safety equipment, ensuring availability and proper use.

  • Develop and deliver safety training to employees and subcontractors, focusing on project-specific hazards.

  • Provide guidance on necessary safety certifications and qualifications for various roles.

  • Foster a strong culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.

  • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and accidents in partnership with the company’s insurance provider.

  • Analyze incident reports, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Ensure all safety incidents are reported in line with company policy and regulatory standards.

  • Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.

  • Oversee compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, including inspections and reporting.

  • Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate safety performance across projects.

  • Regularly assess adherence to safety standards and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project managers and senior leadership.

    Requirements

  • 3-5 years of construction safety management experience, experience with water and wastewater projects preferred.

  • Proven ability to manage safety programs on complex projects.

  • Professional safety certifications a plus.

  • CPR/First Aid, EMT certification, and OSHA instructor qualifications are preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and access all areas of construction sites in varying conditions.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies.

  • Strong work ethic, with a commitment to doing what it takes to complete tasks successfully.

  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, to project sites.
