Summary: Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior MEP Project Engineer II to provide advanced support to project leadership for manufacturing process programming, engineering, design, and technical field coordination issues as it relates to customer experience, quality installation, and project team performance that results in a successful transition to manufacturing operations. Responsibilities: Leverage manufacturing process technical expertise Develop industry specific knowledge across multiple advanced manufacturing market segments including semiconductors, photovoltaic (PV) components, batteries (both electric vehicle and utility scale energy storage), aerospace, food & beverage, biomedical and others as necessary to support operating group portfolio of work. Lead Front-End Loading (FEL 1, FEL 2, FEL 3) and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) process oversight with both internal (Mortenson) and external (design firms, customers, trade partners) project team members. Develop block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, and perform detailed process line analysis necessary for establishing comprehensive/complete manufacturing process lines flow from raw materials to finished product. Lead manufacturing process centered design review meetings and associated action item management. Identify and resolve technical design and specification concerns. Participate in procurement and selection of design firms and trade partners. Manage coordination of utility infrastructure to support manufacturing process Serve as the liaison between process and facilities design and execution teams ensuring manufacturing equipment and process utility requirements are adequately planned for, designed, procured and installed to support the manufacturing process. While primary function involves early process definition and utility infrastructure coordination during design phase, supplemental field responsibilities include field install verification, quality assurance and quality control, start-up and testing support, and commissioning coordination. Manage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for the construction quality management program Implement three-phase inspection system Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and any off-site testing procedures Notify the Project Manager and Superintendent promptly of test results or inspection items that do not conform to contract requirements Direct and manage the commissioning process on the project inclusive of the startup plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing Manage submittals Set up register in accordance with project specifications Obtain the customer/architect's approval Prepare project-specific transmittal forms in PCMS Coordinate the packaging, review, and processing of submittals Expe ite submittals to ensure material deliveries are in sync with the project schedule Communicate details and requirements for the submittal process to subcontractors and suppliers, Issue submittal requirement letters that outline packaging and processing requirements Provide periodic updates of the submittal register to the customer or architect Coordinate details of various subcontractors, including verifying insurance, preparing paperwork, and requesting final payment from Finance Lead all activities required in the project closeout inclusive of operations and maintenance manuals, model turn over, and training Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-build construction documents Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation in the procedures for revising or updating contract documents Other duties as assigned, including: Determine alternative work methods as needed Coordinate safety and compliance for all team member Maintain schedule of timelines and follow through until completion Qualifications: Minimum five years construction experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or ElectricalContractor Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies Ability to travel Current driver's license Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience Mortenson is an EOE/Affirmative Action/M/F/Veteran/Disabled employer.
