Stinson Leonard Street LLP Systems Engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Description Summary The Systems Engineer is responsible for installing and configuring hardware, monitoring and troubleshooting all systems in the Data Centers and remote offices. The role will implement and maintain a cost effective virtualized infrastructure, network infrastructure and services including: server buildouts, VDI & virtual provisioning, cloud services, disk storage systems and data backup and retention. The Systems Engineer will strategically execute infrastructure goals, under the guidance of the Director of Network Operations and coordinate such goals with other groups throughout the firm, such as Information Services and Risk. This position requires the ability to work with users of varied technical ability and have strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. The role also requires the Systems Engineer be available for scheduled on-call duties during non-business hours and be available to work occasional nights and weekends. Required Education & Experience 2-to-4-year degree in a computer related area of study or 5+ years of equivalent IT experience At least 2 years of relevant work experience. Recent (within the last 3 years) Microsoft 365 stack administration experience is required, including: Teams Exchange Online Intune Office 365 Apps for Enterprise client application administration and deployment. Azure AD/Entra ID Enterprise applications Application proxies Recent (within the last 3 years) administrative or engineering experience in six or more of the following technical areas: Microsoft Active Directory Windows Group Policy Microsoft File Servers and DFS Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 VMware vSphere Foundation Suite Omnissa Horizon Commvault backup and recovery Administration, installation, and solution design of rack server compute solutions from Dell, HPE, or an equivalent vendor. Solarwinds administration Datacenter administration, operations, hardware installation, and troubleshooting. Including a full understanding of industry best practices related to data center power, cooling, and cabling. Zerto disaster recovery 10Zig thin clients Preferred Education & Experience Experience deploying and administrating solutions in Microsoft Azure. Experience working with the VMware and Omnissa portfolio of products. Prior work experience in a legal environment. Systems Infrastructure (90%) Design, test, implement, and coordinate virtualization initiatives, working with other engineers and management as required. Maintain high availability for server, cloud, and network deployments. Monitor the readiness of regional offices and their systems across multiple platforms. Build server and cloud solution configurations based on vendor specifications and industry best practices. Installation, configuration, and administration of relevant applications at the enterprise level. Monitor and maintain the operating viability of network servers (both physical and virtual), cloud deployed resources, switches, routers, cabling plant, and mass storage devices to ensure security, data integrity, integration and minimal downtime and optimal performance. Monitor and maintain data backup and replication to ensure IT's ability to meet objectives for restoring files, servers and services. Coordinate support and troubleshooting efforts with solution vendors. Review network utilization and performance data and trends and suggests future recommendations to maintain acceptable performance levels and accommodate growth needs. Manage, coordinate, or perform installation of operating systems, releases, and upgrades. Evaluates and installs (or coordinates the installation of) security patches and resolves software related issues. Maintain up-to-date documentation of supported solutions. Provide support for computing hardware, software and troubleshooting of sys ems issues. Research and review emerging technology solutions and provide recommendations where applicable. Assist on projects or special initiatives as assigned. Customer Service (10%) Maintain good relationships with 3rd party vendors and support teams. Participate in technology and Firm initiatives and projects across team platforms. Document systems processes and break fix actions to assist with rapid task and issue resolution. Work with Firm users to resolve issues in a professional manner. Other duties as assigned. Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills.
