Responsibilities

The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (https://sppdglab.mayo.edu/about-sppdg/index.html) (SPPDG) is seeking a system administrator to join our research group. The Mayo Clinic SPPDG is an R&D team dedicated to the development of next generation electronics and optics technologies for high-speed signal processing applications, high clock rate digital signal processors and wide bandwidth, high center frequency analog systems. The SPPDG IT Specialist performs primary computer support for the Windows and Linux platforms used in the performance of SPPDG R&D activities. Responsibilities include configuring, maintaining and upgrading computer systems, installing software (system and application), troubleshooting problems, and assessing user requests. Additional responsibilities could include responsibility for data storage and backups, and interfacing with Mayo IT and Network administrators. This position also assists with system security, complying with group, institutional and government policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include communicating status, documenting procedures, and gathering and assessing user requirements. In addition to tracking and maintaining proficiency in the tools needed to provide computer support, the incumbent is expected to have a basic understanding of risk management framework (RMF) and applicable NIST standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related major and a minimum three (3) years experience in IT system administration required, OR Associates degree and five (5) years experience in IT system administration, OR in lieu of a degree, seven (7) years experience in IT system administration required. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI clearance and adhere to security requirements as described in the NISPOM. Certified as CISSP or will obtain certification within 3 years of hire. Therefore, must be US Citizen.

Successful candidates will have the following experience:

  • Help desk experience (required)

  • Hands-on Windows or Linux System Administration including group policy, basic network concepts (required)

  • Basic experience managing and configuring CISCO network devices (preferred)

  • Basic experience working with Microsoft 365 and Azure Cloud environments (preferred)

Compensation Detail

$97.531.20 - $146,452.80 / year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
