FAMILY & CHILD LEARNING CENTERS OF Teacher Assistant in MINOCQUA, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Purpose Promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Assists the teacher in carrying out developmentally appropriate activities. Promotes the health, nutrition, and education of the children and attends to their safety and welfare. Essential Job Responsibilities Regular consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. Classroom Duties Assist developing weekly lesson plans and goals that promote individual and group experiences. Assist preparing classroom materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans. Assist setting up learning environment (indoor/outdoor) for daily activities. Uses developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities with groups and individual children. Assist promoting a positive climate for learning. Utilizes lesson plans which reflect child outcomes, parental and cultural influences, and promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Follow a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions. Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making; asks open-ended questions and listens respectfully to the answers. Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in all aspects of the program. Work to develop a collaborative approach that benefits all children in the classroom. Clean and sanitize classroom and equipment. Participate in monthly staff meetings. Additional Job Duties: Assist in maintaining accurate written records, including assessments, child outcomes documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal observations, and other required forms. Assist general maintenance and security of facility. Attend agency meetings, trainings, and appropriate development activities. Coordinate work schedule to meet program needs. Other duties as assigned. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Knowledge of how children learn through multiple intelligences. Knowledge of child growth and development. Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and interventions. Skill and willingness to deal with sensitive family situations in a non-threatening and professional manner. Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, and sitting on the floor to attend to children\'s needs. The ability to carry and lift up to 25lbs safely Arrives at work on time, punctually attends and actively participants in all required meetings, training and overnight retreats and training. Ability to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis. Ability to work as a team member collaborating with parents and community resources. Patient and professional attitude toward program participants while managing a busy workload requires good interpersonal skills. Respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in program activities.
