The Banquet Coordinator will be responsible of the overall food and beverage operation of Eberhart-Petro Municipal Golf Course and all its related programs. The position reports directly to the Director of Golf and Superintendent of Parks. The duties include a variety of administrative, supervisory and professional work in the direction and management of the entire food and beverage department, including hiring and training of employees, ordering food and supplies, maintaining a clean and safe food and beverage operation in accordance with state and local health code laws, booking banquets, setting policies and procedures, pricing of all food and beverage, develop the food and beverage budget, maintain and revue vendor relations.
DUTIES:
Supervises and directs assigned personnel in assisting with customers, merchandising, receiving sales and banquet administration.
Directs all activities related to the maintenance and operation of the food and beverage and regulation of customers utilizing all facilities.
Coordinates with representatives of regular leagues to facilitate the best use of associated facilities.
Trains and supervise employees.
Responds to customers' inquiries and complaints
Markets the facility in appropriate venues to increase customer base and revenue.
Oversees and directs special events such as banquets
Plans, organizes and supervises facility activities including renovations, capital outlays, special projects and routine maintenance in regards to the food and beverage operation.
Reports regularly report to the Director of Golf as to the activities in the food and beverage operation.
Directs the selection, procurement, marketing and sale of merchandise in the food and beverage operation within the City's purchasing procedures.
Supervises the procurement of necessary supplies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of post-secondary education in business or golf course management.
Two years of experience in management of food and beverage operations.
Ability to meet all hiring requirements including passage of a drug screening.
Must be an effective supervisor
Must have basic knowledge of business, marketing and merchandising
Must have basic knowledge of the food and beverage operation
Must possess good public relations and communications skills.
Must have the ability to develop long-range plans and to accurately evaluate work accomplished
Must have the ability to manage a strict budget
Must have good and prompt attendance and be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, coworkers and public.
Must act professionally and fairly with employees and public
Must accept supervision and responsibility
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently without constant supervision
Possession of a valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Incumbent per orms assignments according to the general policies and procedures of the department, and exercises personal initiative in planning of work sequences and determining of applicable policies and precedents. Assignments are guided by definite objectives using a variety of methods/procedures. Work product is subject to supervisory review upon completion and is assessed according to attainment of desired results, soundness of judgment and general conformity with departmental standards and policies. Work errors are prevented or detected through standard bookkeeping checks, and work errors may result in loss of time to correct error, loss of money to department, and/or inconvenience to other departments/agencies/public.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co-workers, agencies, vendors, and the public for the purposes of exchanging information, rendering service, instructing, negotiating, and mentoring.
Reports directly to the Director of Operations and Parks and Recreation Superintendent.
