CARMAX Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate (2nd Shift) in Modesto, California

General Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for a variety of interior cosmetic repairs and/or replacement including, but not limited to fabric, vinyl, leather, plastic, carpet, window tint removal, wheel repair, glass and dyeing/color matching on CarMax and customer vehicles.

On an as needed basis, responsible for Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning Associate I and II duties including but not limited to, zone maintenance, prep for delivery, vehicle receiving, inventory scanning, vehicle movement (both on and off lot), basic vehicle detailing including car wash, wash bay, interior cleaning/vacuuming, exterior cleanliness, completing cosmetic inspections, final quality inspections, paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute standardized work processes as defined at established pace time

  • Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities with team

  • Participate in training of new associates with guidance of Reconditioning Associate Lead

  • Discern the colors of repair materials in order to recondition vehicle interior components to meet CarMax standards

  • Dying and color matching of fabric, vinyl, leather, plastic and carpet

  • Repair windshield chips (glass repair)

  • Identify defects and most appropriate repair methods according to CarMax standards

  • Responsible for work place cleanliness and organization in accordance with CarMax 5S standards · Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers

  • Ensure all equipment is maintained, repaired, and cleaned as required within assigned zone

  • Ensure proper levels of equipment and supplies are maintained

  • Support retail service as needed

  • Complete duties as assigned by Lead and Managers

Job Specifications:

Position requires the following pre-requisites and ability:

New Associate Orientation Training

  • Operations Accountable to Associate 1

  • Competency Model Kronos

  • Training for Hourly Associates

  • Complete Reconditioning Associate, Reconditioning Associate I, II and III

  • Workstation Certifications Meet Reconditioning Associate

  • Reconditioning Associate I and II

  • Performance Standards Read

  • Interpret and transcribe data

  • Required to perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

  • Required to perform manual tasks at a specific pace for a specific period of time

  • May rotate job duties in other areas per qualifications and need

  • Lift objects that weigh as much as 50 pounds

  • Speak and listen effectively in dealing with customers/associates, both in person and over the phone

  • Complete CarMax provided training in all functional areas of the inventory process, allowing for cross-training and full coverage of the inventory and detail area

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of both office and outdoor environment; may include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions

  • Walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and/or standing for an extended periods of time

  • Varying work schedules and shifts that may include nights, weekends, holiday, and extended shifts

  • Follow all CarMax and government regulations and rules

  • Adhere to all CarMax policies including but not limited to Attendance, Proper Recording of Time, Asset Protection, Safety and Standards of Professional appearance

The hourly rate for this position is:

$21.51 - $23.04

Benefits:

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

  • To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.

  • For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
