Summary This IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) is located is in an Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)? and is part of the CA 129 RQW. Responsibilities THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE/ POSITION Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-11, is to provide information technology system support to the assigned unit. The incumbent provides systems administration support on classified workstations and servers using multiple operating systems. The incumbent is responsible for installing and testing the classified system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining workstation and server hardware and software. The incumbent is the primary customer support specialist for the classified systems used throughout the unit. Serves as a systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to meet customer needs. Coordinates with system developers resolving hardware and/or software malfunctions. Serves as a technical expert on multiple classified operating systems and computer platforms. Determines equipment and communications requirements and interfaces with other systems. Implements systems software changes, operating system releases and maintains the operational status of systems. Analyzes system operations to identify inefficiencies and takes action to resolve problems and ensure optimal performance and consistency. Develops, modifies, and tests overall classified system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Installs and configures classified workstation or network operating systems, and applications software on a wide range of configurable information systems devices. Configures a wide variety of devices requiring diverse interfaces and device drivers in multiple operating system environments on various hardware platforms. The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required prior to position assignment. Qualifications IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques; Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; Experience serving as a technical expert and focal point for the installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and associated assigned systems.
