We have an exciting new position, reporting to our SLP supervisor.  In this full time, year round position,  he/she will provide expertise in speech and language and related services, serving as an integral part of our clinical team, and working on a transdisciplinary team to support our students. They will provide expertise in conducting assessments, consulting and counseling, as well as designing and developing treatment plans and interventions that meet the individualized needs of students. He/she will maintain key relationships and collaborate as needed and required with students, their families and all levels of staff at the Shrub Oak International School to ensure that the individualized needs of each student are met.  Having access to confidential information, discretion and independent judgment is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides individual and group speech and language services within a transdisciplinary model that are individualized in nature and meet the needs of each student

  • Utilizes a variety of treatment approaches that are safe, creative and individualized to a particular student's needs

  • Continually monitor students' progress and adjust treatments accordingly based off clinical observations and data collection

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations of a student's speech and language capabilities

  • Collaborates with other clinicians, and members of the Education and Student Life teams to ensure carryover and generalization of communication skills across all aspects of a students’ day 

  • Collaborates with other clinicians, and members of the Education and Student Life teams to seamlessly integrate speech and language services into social and life skills learnings and support given the individualized needs of each student

  • Work closely to other clinicians, as well as members of the Education and Student Life teams to contribute to a student’s ITEP as needed and required to support their growth and development

  • Proactively maintains communication with students, family members and/or other care givers as appropriate to effectively address student progress, development and emergencies, as needed

  • Maintains appropriate records and reports as required

  • Participates in professional development and Shrub Oak activities to advance field knowledge and to remain at the forefront of clinical advancements in the areas of intervention, evaluation, life skills and related areas

  • Actively assists with other programs, events, and services administered through Shrub Oak and has the opportunity to be involved in a wider range of responsibilities

  • Performs any other responsibilities as needed and required

     Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • A New York State License, and is in good professional standing

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology 

  • Experience working with students with developmental disabilities or on the autistic spectrum is strongly preferred; school experience a plus

  • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC); both high and low tech.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience

Salary: $70,000-105,000 DOE

Schedule: Traditional 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday.
