Job Description
Job Summary:
The Sr. Software Development Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Raymarine’s suite of web applications, APIs, and data processing systems. The Sr. Software Development Engineer will work closely with the Madison, Wisconsin based Cartography and Software Engineering teams, with opportunities for collaboration with engineering teams in Europe and the Asia. This role is onsite at the Raymarine facility in Monona, Wisconsin with some work from home hours being an option.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with the Cartography and Software Engineering teams to design, implement and support Raymarine’s suite of web applications, APIs, and data processing systems
Develop high-quality applications and tools by writing clean and efficient code
Ensure high code quality in own and team’s work
Review and approve team’s code
Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
Scope, plan, and estimate technical tasks
Troubleshoot and support existing applications and systems
Support continuous integration/continuous deployment using Jenkins, Bitbucket, Git flow
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 8 years of experience developing web-based APIs and web applications, required.
Proficiency with server-side languages such as C# .Net, Python, etc.
Experience designing and developing JavaScript based front end applications with frameworks such as Angular, Nuxt, React, Vue, Ember etc.
Experience working with database technology such as MySQL, Postgres, SQLite, MongoDB etc.
Experience working with AWS technologies such as EC2, EFS, S3, RDS, Amplify
Working knowledge of standard software development frameworks and methodologies.
Knowledge of Git and Git Branching.
Experience with GIS (open source, CARIS, Esri) programming and technology a plus.
Ability and desire to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced agile development environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
Office working environment
Less than one week of travel per year
