ProMedica Health System Infusion Technician - Monroe Cancer Center - Part Time - Days in Monroe, Michigan

The ProMedica Monroe Cancer Center, a Department of ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, is nationally accredited by the American College of Radiology Accreditation (Radiation Therapy) and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Our center's Cancer Connection program provides cancer support services thanks to funding from United Way of Monroe.

This 13,000 square foot facility opened in 2011. It also includes physician offices and offers laboratory and other oncology-related services.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Under close supervision of a registered nurse, and according to established policies, procedures and specific instructions, performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comforts of patients that patient require while being treated in the infusion center.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Maintains the standards of nursing care and policies and procedures of Monroe Regional Hospital and the nursing department. 2. Provides for patients basic needs while receiving treatments and assists nurses with vitals, stocking, answering phones and, escorting patients to the treatment area. 3. May obtain patient's vital signs, and documents in the patients' medical records. 4. May assist with ambulating patients, placing patients into •wheel chair and transporting patients once discharged.

  1. Reports to nursing patient conditions and any deviation from normal.
  2. Assists with the orientation of new personnel.
  3. Performs other duties as appropriate for the department. Education: High school diploma or equivalent must be able to follow routine Witten and/or verbal instructions. Skills: Can perform functions required in the infusion center, such as vitals, toileting bladder and bowel, transporting patients and assisting nurses when needed. Certification: Current CPR certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certification: BLS

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE One to four weeks of on-the-job training at Monroe Regional Hospital in order to become familiar with job responsibilities and duties, the work area, and policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Infusion Center Patients receive varied procedures such as blood transfusion, IV hydration various drug infusions, lab draws, etc. which may involve exposure or the potential for exposure to blood or other potentially infection material, or involve the potential for spills or splashes of blood or other potentially infection material. Physical Demands: The physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods to lift or assist in the lifting of, positioning, and transporting of patients to a variety of hospital areas as needed. As an essential job function, due to continuously changing patient census/activity and staffing needs, must have the flexibility to work a varying schedule should the need arise, which may require working a varying shift, overtime (greater than 8 hours worked hours in a day or 80 hours in a pay period) and/or shift durations that exceed the assigned status for shift length and/or hours per week Must be flexible to work varying schedules should the need arise due to fluctuation with patient census in the infusion center.
