EvergreenHealth Monroe Clinical Dietician - Per Diem in Monroe, Washington

Wage Range: $39.07 - $62.77 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, applicable education and internal equity.

JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Adheres to Hospital’s Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Health & Healing principles. Assumes responsibility for the overall nutritional management of inpatients. Works with medical staff to determine required diet and patient education needs. Provides nutrition education to patients, families and EHM staff. Provides nutrition education to outpatients with PCP referral. Consults with Dietary Manager on nutritional values of cafeteria meals when requested. Appropriately screens patients based on established guidelines. Maintains records. Revises diet manual as necessary. Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

Must be a Registered Dietitian, with current registration through the American Dietetic Association and obtain WA State DOH Dietitian Certification within 90 days of hire. Minimum of one year experience or comparable training. Bi-lingual preferred.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to use a PC.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS :

Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and BBP. Risk of exposure to communicable disease. Exposure to varying degrees of kitchen, pa­tient and unit elements.

WORK CONTACT GROUP : All departments, personnel, patients, families and the public.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during the working day.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TECHNICAL

  1. Participates in multidisciplinary patient rounds.

  2. Completes nutritional assessments and documents within 48 hours of all physician consults and patients screened at nutritional risk.

  3. Develops and updates educational materials for patients and staff.

  4. Serves as a nutrition resource person for hospital staff and the com­munity.

  5. Teaches nutrition education classes for patients, staff and the community as requested.

  6. Monitors quality of food service by performing test trays and meal rounds.

  7. Instructs patients in ordered diet prior to discharge as ordered.

  8. Communicates with medical, nursing, pharmacy and dietary staff as needed to meet the nutritional needs

    of all patients.
  9. Clarifies diet orders and contacts appropriate personnel as needed.

  10. Participates in continuing education program as required by the American Dietetic Association and VGH.

  11. Assists in training of Dietary staff.

  12. Revises diet manual as needed.

  13. Maintains required records, reports and statistics.

  14. Designs patient menus to meet physician ordered diet requirements.

  15. Adheres to dietary and department procedures and protocol.

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 3000. .
