SUMMARYThe Lead Sommelier is responsible for assisting the Beverage Director and Food & Beverage Managers in administering the sale of beverages in outlet, lounge and banquet functions, as well as mentoring sommeliers, bartenders, servers and other associates involved in the sale of alcoholic beverages. This role will contribute to the organization as an active business partner that is responsible for supporting the company’s goals, objectives, vision, mission and values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSJob duties include; although are not limited to:• Lead the wine service by working on the floor order taking, selling, servicing and ensuring proper all-around service standards• Read guests to gauge level of expectation, anticipate needs and make recommendations to create a unique and memorable experience for guests• Execute administrative duties including updating wine list menus and all beverage menus (including printing) in the point-of-sale system• Provide wine education and training and tastings for associates; share wine trends, knowledge and passion• Assist the Beverage Director with the beverage program including ordering, receiving, and inventory including month-end• Fulfilling daily beverage requisitions to all F&B outlets• Organize, maintain and restock wines in proper cabinets, coolers, cellar or storage areas• Work with restaurant management to assist with pricing strategy; provide feedback to assist with forecasts and budgets• Support the sommelier team with training and assist with scheduling• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred• 3-5 years in a Sommelier role, or Beverage Management related field• Previous fine dining experience required• Level III (Advanced) certification from the CMS and/or WSET, or relevant experience preferred• Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMost work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by building environmental systems. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Must be physically able to lift and carry heavy trays and equipment as well as delicate China and glassware – up to 50 lbs. Must be physically able to walk without assistance on various surfaces for an extended period of time. This position requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending and climbing.
