Lowe's Physical Experience Designer in Mooresville, North Carolina

Job Description:

  • Works closely with other functions within the Store Environment Team, Merchandising, Marketing, Customer Insights, and external partners to clarify scope and develop effective design intent.

  • Identifies, defines, and develops solutions utilizing human-centered design methodologies to solve customer experience pain points.

  • Delivers solutions that consider the entire customer journey, with consideration of relationship between the physical environment and digital interactions, ensuring a seamless omnichannel customer experience.

  • Processes customer insights and applies learnings toward strategies that inform the design of engaging experiences.

  • Develops and maintains retail and experience design industry knowledge through continual market research and competitive store audits.

  • Develops concepts and visual design elements at all scales of the physical experience.

  • Leverage free form sketching, adobe creative suite and sketch-up to visualize experiences in 3D.

  • Participates in the creation of low to mid-fidelity prototypes that will enable concept evaluation by the team, project stakeholders, store associates and customer research participants.

  • Takes ownership of projects and operates autonomously when needed.

  • Collaborates with Merchandising, Marketing, Consumer Insights, and Merchandising Execution Store Environment to take ideas from concept to completion.

  • Documents the final concept and participate in the development of design guidelines that are used by the store planning and visual merchandising teams.

  • Partners with Concept and Concept Strategy teammates to ensure the solutions deliver upon the strategy and design objectives.

  • Approaches work with empathy for the customer, a creative curiosity, a natural instinct to collaborate, and the adaptability to drive ahead in spite of ambiguity.

  • Works closely with other functions within Store Environments, as well as with Merchandising, Marketing, Store Operations, Consumer Insights, and external vendors to foster strong collaboration and co-creation across the organization.

  • Develops systematic and rigorous experience documents, including the definition of customer needs, task analysis, and the creation of personas, storyboards, scenarios, user flows and use cases.

  • Participates in research, gathering feedback from customers and associates on new concept tests, then processes those learnings to inform further iteration.

  • Tests and refines prototypes with a view to deliver for pilot and scale balancing customer experience objectives with Lowes business objectives.

  • Acts as a liaison to development partners, ensuring coherence between what is conceived and what is executed.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in related field

1-3 years in retail design, industrial design, architecture, or relevant form of design where the methodologies are rooted in the needs of the customer, guest, or audience.
