Our client is seeking a Project Cost Engineer to bring on board! In this role, you will be responsible for developing accurate labor cost estimates for wire harness projects, ensuring that all estimates align with customer requirements, project goals, and manufacturing capabilities. You will work closely with various departments, including design, engineering, production, and procurement, to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

You'll need to have: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Equivalent. Proven experience in wire harness manufacturing and labor estimation in automotive, aerospace, or industrial sectors.

responsibilities:

  • Labor Cost Estimation: Develop accurate labor cost estimates for wire harness projects based on customer requirements and specifications.

  • Labor Analysis: Analyze and evaluate the labor requirements, including time, skills, and number of workers needed for each manufacturing process.

  • Cost Breakdown & Quotation: Prepare detailed labor cost breakdowns and quotations for customers.

  • Technical Review: Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to understand the project scope and labor needs.

  • Labor-Intensive Assessment: Identify and assess labor-intensive components and processes to ensure accurate labor cost estimation.

  • Hands-On Experience: Leverage practical experience in wire harness manufacturing to provide realistic and achievable labor estimates.

  • Manufacturing Processes: Incorporate various manufacturing processes, such as cutting, crimping, soldering, and assembly, into labor calculations.

  • Process Optimization: Optimize manufacturing processes to reduce labor costs and improve efficiency.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure labor estimates align with project goals and timelines.

  • Budget & Financial Input: Provide input on project budgets and financial planning.

  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor labor costs throughout the production cycle and adjust estimates as needed.

  • Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for labor cost reduction and process improvement within the manufacturing process.

  • Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma: Implement lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance labor efficiency.

  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in labor estimation and manufacturing.

  • Customer Communication: Effectively communicate with customers to clarify requirements, provide detailed labor cost breakdowns, and address inquiries.

  • Support for Sales: Assist sales and business development teams in preparing competitive bids and proposals.

  • Work Environment: The role typically involves working in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
