Description The Department of Adventure WV at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Manager. About the Opportunity This position works with other Adventure WV professional staff members to support AWV trip operations. The position collaborates with the Associate Director, Program Coordinator, and Graduate Assistant to deliver programming that supports AWV's student engagement and retention efforts. The position oversees the climbing program and supports custom programming delivery. The position is expected to coordinate and lead extended outdoor programs in remote locations. The position serves as a contributing member of the AWV team, working on program priority projects (i.e Welcome Week, Fall Adventure Activities, special events), facilitating Outdoor Education Center programs, and serving as On-Call personnel. Wellness programs What you'll do: AWV Experiential Programming The PM provides support to the Adventure WV Program Coordinator and AWV Associate Director to propose, enroll, and staff a robust year-round calendar of educational and experiential opportunities - including programming for evenings, weekends, and breaks. The PM is primarily responsible for loading all programs into recreation software and ensuring proper presentation on websites and mobile applications. The position coordinates with the AWV Program Support Specialist to ensure all logistics needs of programs are adequately met and with the AWV Media Specialist to effectively market programs. Leads programs when appropriate and serves as a Course Director/student manager when students are leading programs. Coordinates, designs, and leads student staff trainings as requested. Climbing Program Working in conjunction with and under the direction of the Adventure WV Program Coordinator, the PM works to support various areas of Adventure WV with expertise in climbing facility and operations management. The climbing facility operates according to Adventure WV internal processes and standards, along with relevant industry standards. The PM provides support and assists the PC with the responsibility of designing training protocols for staff (indoor and outdoor), staff recruitment, and the delivery of student-staff training. Staff training should adequately address the needs of open enrollment programs, climbing wall, First Year Trips, Outdoor Education Center, and other relevant program operations. The PM will also assist with student staff hiring and will support the PC in the supervision of all climbing staff.
