The Cigna Group Operating Effectiveness Senior Advisor - Evernorth - Hybrid in Morris Plains, New Jersey

POSITION SUMMARY

Operational Excellence (OE) leads large, cross-functional business initiatives and targeted improvement projects in specific business and functional areas by using a multi-disciplined team approach consisting of process analysts, engineers, managers, and other specialists under the direction of the Deployment Leader. This approach helps ensure that changes are agile, timely, and sustainable by meeting desired outcomes and budgets, in addition to employee and management adoption.

The Operating Effectiveness Senior Advisor (Business Process Engineer) is an individual contributor role within the Business Process Redesign team. Incumbent will lead, facilitate, and drive business process engineering activity for mid to large scale initiatives with responsibilities including: identification of continuous improvement opportunities leveraging appropriate data and metrics to quantify quality and efficiency gaps, identification of policy/procedure impacts and documentation/validation of business requirements; documentation of business process maps and workflows; development and maintenance of cross-functional, matrixed relationships with business and IT, timely escalation of barriers to success along with identification of potential solutions, and providing concise and timely reporting tailored to appropriate stakeholder audiences.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and partner with business partners to design improved/new business processes which will align with future strategies

  • Assesses impacts and provides solutions/direction on strategic, enterprise and baseline opportunities from a cost, efficiency, effectiveness/value, contractual, legal and compliance standpoint; includes the compilation, analysis, and identification of opportunities. Drives to consider all possibilities and moves beyond current thought processes.

  • Responsible to show results - includes cost-savings, quantifiable and qualitative benefits and impacts for process improvements

  • Develop and manage project plans through-out project lifecycle; includes prioritization, risk mitigation and monitoring progress.

  • Identify and work to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful attainment of defect reduction and quality goals that will lead to providing Cigna a competitive advantage

  • Provides constant, ongoing communication to ensure barriers/obstacles to business process improvement are removed and necessary support is provided

  • Deliver various reporting of activity and other significant attributes as requested.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with teammates and matrix partners.

  • Continually strive to improve their own skills and competencies by demonstrating initiative to participate in ongoing coaching and training programs.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA preferred.

  • Demonstration in execution and delivery of advanced quality/continuous improvement methodologies and tools.

  • At least 7 years of experience in process design/development and translating changes into implementation and change management plans (DMAIC and DFSS preferred).

  • Experience deploying contemporary continuous improvement methodologies in an operations environment (i.e., pharmacy, manufacturing, production, distribution, or similar).

  • Six Sigma, lean or related certification preferred.

  • Proficient analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decision making and improvement activities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in a wide range of decision-making tools and facilitation techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and leverage appropriate metrics, scorecards, and control mechanisms to quantify quality and efficiency gaps and demonstrate sustained improvement performance and results.

  • Proven track record of delivering results of high quality and sustainability.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in best practice methods/tools for strategy deployment.

  • Ability to apply current global best-practices related to Business Process Management/Engineering and how to keep abreast of new best practices as they arise.

  • Ability to develop cross-organizational value streams, showing E2E workflow and associated process data.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities. Self-directed and capable of leading a team of professionals, either as a direct manager or as a cross organizational team leader, to drive quality improvements. Works well with larger groups from a wider range of organizations, as well as reporting out to senior executives.

  • Ability and willingness to share knowledge and coach individuals with varying levels of experience.

  • Detail oriented, with proven time management and organization skills (including the ability to engage in multiple tasks and meet deadlines/standards).

  • Comfortable with raising questions, issues, ideas or suggestions to co-workers of all levels across all organizations.

  • Act with a sense of urgency to research questions or issues brought by the team. Identify the right parties or resources to resolve these issues (organizational agility). Follow up with these parties to drive resolution and provide on-going feedback to individual(s) who raised the question or issues.

  • Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to speed in new business areas and new projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver effective presentations and training.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, embracing change and helping others see it as an opportunity with ability to stay focused on goals while adapting to change.

  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and establish a high level of credibility across functional and lines of business and organizational levels.

  • Proficient in use of Blue Works Live preferred.
