Quality engineers work with manufacturing and engineering personnel to assure product and quality management system integrity to customer, corporate, regulatory, and statutory requirements. They work on continuous improvement of quality management system and quality system objectives with the goal of enhancing customer satisfaction. Quality Engineers assure processes required for quality management systems are maintained and conducted free of compromise. They promote customer awareness throughout the organization. Quality engineers work directly with customers and suppliers to resolve product and system integrity issues. They have the authority and responsibility to disposition nonconforming product.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As assigned by the quality manager, quality engineers will be the SPA or quality function liaison for the following quality management system processes:

  • Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and Purchasing overview

  • Root Cause and Corrective Action

  • Returns, escapes, and disclosures management

  • Nonconforming Product Management

  • Internal auditing of Quality Management Systems

  • Supplier Discrepancy Action Requests (SDAR)

  • Product Integrity auditing

  • Quality Awareness Training

  • Configuration Management Systems

  • Document Control and Managements

  • Infrastructure and Work Environment

  • Human Resources- training and vision exams

  • Product Realization- preproduction planning and review

  • Customer related processes

  • Production and Service Provision- control of tooling, design data, process control software and data

  • Coordinate Peer and Third-Party audits of HCS quality management systems

  • Approve flow down of customer product requirements

  • Review flow down of general customer, corporate, OEM, and regulatory standards.

  • As assigned by Quality Manager, deputy management representative for quality systems as required by corporate quality manual, section 5.5.2.5 (this assignment will be to a specific individual and denoted on the organizational structure chart)

  • Maintain metrics of quality management systems they are responsible for, and communicate performance and effectiveness to organization as applicable

  • Review and assure HCS compliance to applicable customer, corporate, OEM, and specifications

  • Approve documentation of fixed processes as required by customer per SCM-504C Audit parts for compliance to customer requirements.

  • Disposition nonconforming product.

  • Follow up corrective action activities to assure timely closure effectiveness

  • Audit HCS work instructions for alignment with customer requirements and operator comprehension.

  • Participate with manufacturing and engineering resources to determine root cause and implement corrective actions for escapes and product integrity failures.

  • IMEX SPA

  • Communicate with regarding escapes, disclosures, and rejections

  • Provide personal development and growth opportunities for subordinates.

  • Complete continuous Improvement activities of HCS quality management systems

  • Maintain high attendance record

  • Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

  • Requires the minimum of a BS Degree with emphasis in quality, engineering or drafting fields or equivalent experience.

  • Three (3) or more years of quality assurance and/or engineering/drafting experience in a similar manufacturing environment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED: Good manual dexterity to operate computer equipment. Equipment used includes personal computer, printer, plotter and scanner.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic computer operation (including Microsoft office products, AutoCAD), effective oral and written communications, knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Processes, program management.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
