Job Title: 1st Shift Material Handler
Job Description
As a 1st Shift Material Handler, you will perform various tasks in the warehouse, ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of materials. Your responsibilities will include unloading freight, picking and packing orders, maintaining equipment, and assisting with inventory management. You will also be expected to adhere to safety standards and comply with company policies.
Responsibilities
Unload trucks, trailers, and containers, comparing products to manifests, and checking for damage, infestation, or production code dates.
Report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments using appropriate forms, and sign for inbound shipments when necessary.
Efficiently move inbound shipments to storage locations and stack store merchandise.
Ensure the correct product number, quantity, type, lot, batch, and serial number are picked for orders.
Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms using material handling equipment such as fork trucks, cherry pickers, or pallet jacks.
Label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize products as required.
Compare quantity, labeling, and address with order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct, and sign for outbound shipments when necessary.
Move product cartons or pallets into trailers, rail cars, or containers efficiently.
Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion, operating it safely and efficiently.
Comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.
Keep accurate records and reports, assist in physical inventories and cycle counts, and ensure proper stock rotation.
Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions, repair and consolidate damaged goods, and operate shrink-wrap machine.
Charge forklift batteries as needed, stack and separate good from bad pallets, and clean railcars, trailers, and truck dock bays as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds using proper techniques.
Ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety.
Ability to handle stress caused by meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
Ability to shift priorities easily.
Ability to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
Responsible work habits.
Familiarity with warehouse systems.
Availability to work any shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School education or GED preferred.
OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification is a plus, but not required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret SOPs, coverage documents, and regulations.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively establish rapport, present information, and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Basic mathematical skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Understanding of metric system measurements is beneficial.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Skill and ability to type and operate a computer.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.37 - $19.37
