This position is responsible for working closely with the sales associates, contractors and control vendors to provide timely completion of cost estimate on controls jobs

Opportunities for relocation assistance to North Carolina.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:

  • Responsible for creating cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project
  • Utilizes plans, specifications, and knowledge of controls/construction industry to analyze project needs and compiles detailed cost estimates
  • Responsible for the take-off and pricing of controls materials to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  • Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects
  • Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards
  • Develops the scope of work for engineering and wiring estimators and may require wiring estimating to confirm costs associated with installation.
  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services
  • Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc.
  • Creates detailed cost estimates including controller sizing charts, electrical estimates, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, points list, and system riser/sketches
  • Prepares estimates in digital format to be stored on the Brady server and explains to the operation group how the estimate was prepared and what assumptions were made.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, legal regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Collaborate with all Associates to uphold the company's mission and values

WORK HOURS:Monday thru Friday, overtime/weekends as required

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate frequently is required to walk and use hands to operate computer keyboard, mouse and telephone keyboard. The associate must be able to travel locally as required. The associate is occasionally required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position works in a typical office environment and visits to job sites, which includes outdoor work and work in mechanical/equipment rooms. During the job site visits, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborn particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in related field from accredited institution
  • 3+ years of related electrical or mechanical contracting estimating experience required
    • Education can be substituted for an additional 3 years of experience in estimating, engineering or construction management
  • Proficiency with computer devices (including laptopsand smart phones)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Apple iOS software
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
