Description and Requirements

The Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) World Wide Marketing team is presently hiring a Director of Budgeting and Business Operations within the IDG Marketing Operations organization. This position will report to the Executive Director of Strategy and Operations for IDG Marketing.

Lenovo is looking for an experienced Marketing Operations leader to enhance, centralize and operate the end-to-end financial planning and budgeting process. As we are currently transforming through automation many of our business processes, the role will also be responsible for driving technology solutions to enhance the efficiency of financial operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive operations experience, comprehensive knowledge of financial management principles, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

This role is responsible for supporting the management system to ensure marketing investments are aligned to strategic priorities and to ensure that we are optimizing the use of our financial resources. Finally, this leader will ensure that we are adopting and utilizing all available technology platforms and global processes to manage our financial operations in an optimal fashion. It will be essential to align to global tools and processes, but also to ensure the global platforms can deliver the necessary capabilities for IDG.

Key Responsibilities

Budget Operations

  • Enhance and execute a management system to ensure optimal utilization of IDG HQ budget that supports/ensures compliance to governance, alliance and accounting rules and processes.

  • Work closely with executives in other functions (e.g. Finance, Procurement, Accounting, Alliances), and with the IDG HQ senior management team to ensure strategic goals of the business are supported through the distribution of marketing investments.

  • Support annual planning process with focus on the distribution of financial resources and serve as the focal point for alignment with finance.

  • Manage monthly financial forecasting.

  • Support PO management process on Anaplan with compliance pre-checks through Shared Services Centre.

  • Design and publish reports to provide visibility on financial operations, efficiency metrics, and governance and compliance status for marketers and executives.

Transformation

  • Design and deploy a unified and automated budget framework for E2E budget process including various milestones of planning and execution to drive process efficiency and optimization as well as common process and centralized visibility.

  • Supporting tracking and reporting across functional areas including budget management, governance, operational metrics, marketing performance management, financial forecasting, executive reporting, etc.

  • Create a Blueprint for Shared Services Centre for the long-term that standardizes the support, improves marketing governance support thereby mitigating risk and increases efficiency.

Basic Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success showing commitment to team accomplishments as well as individual responsibilities

  • 10+ years marketing operations management experience or equivalent.

  • 10+ years’ experience in preparing budgets, planning procedures, and capacity planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of, and can apply, industry best practices for all applications or technical areas managed.

  • Demonstrated ability to be productive in a fast-moving environment where coping, tolerance for ambiguity and common sense is required.

  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to relate efficient and effective systems solutions to diverse and complex business/technical problems.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed organization is essential to success in this role.
