Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and re-purposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.

The Media Processing & Distribution team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to head the development and improvement of automated integration and validation, emphasizing scalability, dependability, and performance. This role calls for experience developing back-end applications in Java and/or Python. Additionally, knowledge and experience working with various tech stack items, including cloud technologies (AWS), is required.

You will use your knowledge and skills to help build and improve resilient backend systems, improve data processing flows, and guarantee high system performance, reliability, and observability. You'll also work across multidisciplinary teams, translating requirements, and advocating for continuous innovation in features and functionalities!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement outstanding, scalable automated validations within a Python-based framework.

  • Apply AWS cloud services to build and sustain infrastructure, catering to high-availability systems demands.

  • Work alongside the engineering squad to elevate code quality through unit tests, automation, and code reviews.

  • Involved in the full span of the application lifecycle, focusing on coding, solving, and devising solutions to intricate challenges.

  • Identify coverage gaps and work with project managers to plan roadmaps and priorities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of professional software development expertise

  • Proficiency with streaming data frameworks and building cloud-based applications, primarily using AWS.

  • Experience with technologies including Python, Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub, and Datadog

  • Demonstrated ability to craft, develop, and maintain APIs and backend services.

  • Eagerness to tackle new challenges and balance multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.#DISNEYTECH

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $117,998 to $158,290 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $112,586 to $151,030; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $123,328 to $165,440 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
