rrPosition Summary:

r The individual will teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to apparel design, product development, and current industry technology; establish and maintain a strong program of research and/or creative scholarship resulting in peer-reviewed publications and/or juried design exhibitions; seek funding to support this scholarship; outreach to Idaho teachers who instruct in areas of apparel and textiles; mentor graduate students; and provide service to the university, community, and profession. Courses taught will include the following.

ATD 428/528 Design and Development for the Client (alternate years)

ATD 339 Apparel Technology (alternate years)

ATD 413/513 Portfolio Development

ATD 325/525 Digital Patternmaking and Technical Design

ATD 424/524 Senior Experience: Design Capstone

ATD NEW Graduate Apparel Design Research Course (alternative years)

rrMinimum Qualifications:

r

  • Doctorate in textiles, apparel, design, or doctoral dissertation related to educational approaches in the field of textiles, apparel, and design. ABD applicants must have degree requirements completed at time of hire.
  • Experience, expertise and/or interest in conducting interdisciplinary work within the realm of textiles, apparel, design, and/or technology.
  • At least 5 years experience working in the apparel, textiles, and/or design industry.
  • Experience using and teaching technologies used in the apparel, textiles, and/or design industry.
  • Experience obtaining internal and/or external funding.
  • Experience publishing in refereed journals.

rrPreferred Qualifications:

r

  • Classroom teaching experience at the college or university level with evidence of effectiveness and excellence.
  • Experience working with secondary school FCS teachers.
  • Experience working in teams.
  • Experience with distance education methodologies and online instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to involve undergraduate students in faculty-directed research and/or mentor undergraduate students in independent research.
