Position Summary

Big Bend Community College (BBCC), a rural college serving vibrant, culturally rich communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington invites applications for a Student Retention Coordinator in the college's Student Services Department.

The Student Retention Coordinator will be at the forefront of cultivating a supportive and inclusive learning community that empowers students to achieve their full potential.

Essential Job Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Primary essential responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Lead the development of comprehensive student retention strategies in collaboration with college administrators, faculty, and staff, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission, guiding principles, and strategic plan.

Lead strategic collaboration and partnership initiatives with academic departments, student services offices, student organizations, and community agencies to develop and

implement policies that enhance support services, cultivate a culture of inclusivity and belonging, and drive student persistence, retention, and success.

Develop, implement, and oversee strategic initiatives for early alert systems aimed at identifying students at risk of academic difficulty or dropping out. Lead the coordination of referrals to appropriate campus resources and support services, ensuring comprehensive and targeted interventions to address student needs effectively.

Proactively engage with students through various channels, including personalized outreach and proactive messaging initiatives. 

Evaluate the effectiveness of retention strategies and interventions through assessment tools, surveys, and feedback mechanisms. Make data-driven recommendations for program enhancements and modifications, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
