*This position has the flexibility to work in either Columbia or Charleston, SC.

Join CDM Smith's Transportation team where our sights are set on improving people and goods movement for the long haul. Our technical teams are versed in various design disciplines, including roads, bridges and structures, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, public transit, and more.

CDM Smith has a long-standing presence in South Carolina providing roadway and drainage design services. We are growing the team and this is an excellent opportunity to participate in client-focused activities and take on leadership and client-oriented tasks.

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by;

-Providing technical services for the design of transportation projects including urban and rural highways and roads.

-Will work with a project manager leading task teams to design roadway drainage elements for roadway design projects.

-Acting independently on technical matters.

-Acting as a mentor for junior-level employees.

-Directing the work of engineers and technicians.

-Working in a multi-disciplinary environment, closely coordinating with team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience working with SCDOT.

-Experience with roadway drainage design, including ditches, small pipe culverts, storm sewer systems, outfall analysis, and drainage investigations.

-Experience with bridge and/or culvert design over streams using the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) design guidelines, such as Hydraulic Design Series 5, 7, etc.

-Experience with drainage design using the NCDOT best management practices.

-Experience with the design of bridges (BSRs) and culverts (CSRs) over FEMA-regulated streams that require coordination and approvals from FEMA or their designees (CLOMR and LOMR preparation).

-Experience using Microstation CADD and Geopak Drainage Software, HY8, HECRAS, HEC1 or HECHMS, ARCGIS.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
