TEKsystems Data Center Technician - I&A Logistics Support 3 in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin

DATA CENTER TECHICIAN

Top 3 Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Data Center Technician, including break/fix, hardware deployments, and decommissions.

  • Relevant certifications such as A+, Network+, or CCNA.

  • IT education, such as an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Technology.

Summary: Join us as a Data Center Technician and be at the forefront of an exciting new venture! As one of the first employees in this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape the future of our data center operations. You'll be responsible for preparing, staging, setting up, and performing startups and shutdowns of equipment such as racks, hard drives, and switches. This role involves following specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails. You'll perform post-execution quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs). You'll also perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly identifying and resolving issues, and replacing faulty components. Additionally, you'll decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds, following standard procedures with minimal guidance. You'll follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Data Center Technician Leads.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.

  • At least 1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.

  • Basic understanding of office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.

  • Previous data center experience is a plus.

Main Function: As a Data Center Technician, you'll play a crucial role in monitoring software to process business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor systems for equipment failure or performance errors.

  • Respond to program error messages by identifying and correcting problems or terminating the program.

  • Assist programmers and systems analysts in testing and debugging new programs.

  • Operate spreadsheet programs and other software to load and manipulate data and produce reports.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in computer programming or equivalent training.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, customer service orientation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00
