Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Mountain View, California
The Data Platform Team, part of Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence (MAI) division, is at the forefront of innovation and is responsible for many data initiatives and systems. This team supports a wide range of research and product activities and manages a significant volume of data. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design efficient, high-performance software, collaborate with stakeholders to advance data initiatives, define requirements, foster an inclusive culture with high coding standards, and lead the transformation of our platform into an internally open-source project.
By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA or Redmond, WA position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco or Seattle area and in office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities
Design and develop software with a focus on high performance and efficiency.
Collaborate broadly across multiple internal stakeholders and partner teams to drive forward our data initiatives.
Identify requirements, scope solutions, estimate work, and schedule deliverables effectively.
Help establish and drive the adoption of outstanding coding standards and patterns, fostering an inclusive engineering culture that values diversity and collaboration.
Champion the concept of making our platform an internally open-source project, encouraging transparency and collaboration within the company.
Promote and facilitate contributions from across the company, fostering a community-driven approach to our platform development.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years’ experience with Python and C#.
M.S. or Ph.D. in computer engineering or related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience delivering Python SDKs to data science stakeholders.
A deep curiosity and interest in exploring new technologies.
Effective cross-team collaboration skills and communication skills.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
