Google Software Engineering Manager II, Android, Google Photos Editing in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

  • 5 years of experience in Android application development.

  • 5 years of experience with team management, collaborating with cross-functional teams and leading operational initiatives.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Experience developing Android apps and managing teams.

  • Applied Machine Learning experience.

  • Deep understanding of machine learning and image/video/display processing algorithms for mobile photography applications.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

We are looking for a dynamic, charismatic, and caring Engineering Manager to lead a team of Android engineers within the Google Photos Creative Expression team. Our goal is to empower our users with simple tools to express themselves creatively. We build the photo, video, and movie editors in Google Photos, and are embarking on a new journey to allow users to create and edit their content. We focus on bringing Google’s cutting edge computational photography technologies to Photos and delivering a reliable and delightful editing experience for Photos’ users.

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead and mentor a team of talented Android engineers guiding them in designing, developing, and deploying innovative features for Google Photos.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including product management, design, and research to drive impactful projects and deliver exceptional user experiences.

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and strategy for the Android platform, ensuring alignment with the overall vision for Google Photos.

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing team of Android engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of features.
