Our Production Network Engineering team is looking for a Senior Backbone & Edge Network Engineer to Design and Operate our Private Backbone to interconnect our NA Data Centers, Edge POP’s, External connectivity to Transits, Peers and Cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have a strong Routing, Traffic engineering expertise with DevOps and automation mindset.

Responsibilities

•Participate in the design and implementation of multi-vendor production networks spanning multiple data centers and locations including public cloud.

•Evaluation of new Platforms to meet the growing demands for high capacity and low latency interconnections.

•Develop strategy to mitigate DDOS events and run regular Chaos Monkey Activities to look for improvements to procedures.

•Conduct, Participate in capacity planning meetings and work with Service providers for evaluating, provisioning and troubleshooting Long-haul circuits.

•Manage Metro interconnections using DWDM transponders.

•Collaborate with the Network Software team to evolve SDN traffic engineer controllers to manage Inter-DC traffic.

•Plan and implement complex Hardware uplifts and Software upgrades in our Backbone.

•Develop and maintain tooling related to Network configuration Generation and automated deployments that can be Unit tested, Peer reviewed and continuously integrated.

•Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables related to your technical expertise and assigned domains

•Mentor and train other team members on coding standards, cloud-design patterns, and infrastructure architecture related to your technical expertise and assigned domains

•Participate in 12x7 on-call rotation, and be available to work with global teams in the event of critical outages

Basic Qualifications

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.

• 2+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

• 2+ years of programming experience in Golang, Python, Java, and/or C/C++.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS and 5+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 4+ years of relevant work experience, or Ph.D. +2 years of relevant work experience

The pay range for this role is $121,000 to $198,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
