SAIC Systems Administrator Principal in MOUNTAIN VIEW, California

Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Administrator to join our IT department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stable operation of in-house computer systems and network connections. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion. This position is in Mountain View, CA.

Job Description:

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, networking hardware, and other equipment.

  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.

  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, software deployment, security updates, and patches.

  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.

  • Ensure network security and connectivity, monitor network performance, and test for weaknesses.

  • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, internet, and intranet systems.

  • Provide support to users in the areas of email, directory services, and other computer workstation issues.

  • Perform on-site and remote technical support.

  • Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.

  • Maintain and improve the company’s disaster recovery plan.

  • Conduct data backups and disaster recovery operations.

  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.

  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.

  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.

  • Work closely with departmental managers to determine the maintenance and growth needs of the network.

  • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

Desired Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience with nine (9) years of experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.

  • Experience in Atlassian administration.

  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.

  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.

  • Knowledge of system security techniques and data backup/recovery.

  • Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, or other language.

  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, or similar credentials.

  • Prior experience in IT operations and knowledge of system administration in cloud-hosted environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).

  • Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).

Clearance:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
