Terracon Consultants, Inc. seeks Staff Engineer in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

  • Participate in pre-task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Manage and execute small projects of minimal complexity.
  • Assist in developing the scope of work for routine projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.
  • Analyze data and perform engineering calculations and analysis for PE review.
  • Conduct, coordinate, or supervise field investigations, laboratory testing, and evaluation of respective data.
  • Develop plans, schedules, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
  • Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience.
  • Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record.
  • Prepare work scope, proposals and reports, and plan investigations for approval by senior level professionals.
  • Interact with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.

Requires a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, plus 1 year of related experience.

Additionally, position requires 1 year of experience with each of the following:

  1. Conducting Geo-technical special inspections and observations during construction of foundations and earthwork, including field density tests, drilled shaft, footing inspections, settlement monitoring and subsurface investigation including borings and test pits, reviewing exploration logs, lab results, and plans.
  2. Preparing standard logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.
  3. Assisting with geotechnical engineering analysis, including calculations of Bearing capacity, Settlement Analysis and Earth Pressures.
  4. gINT software.
  5. Estimation of Seismic Hazard Evaluation and Liquefaction Analysis.
  6. Performing geotechnical analysis and design using engineering software such as Excel, AUTOCAD, or SLOPE/W.
  7. Settle 3 software.
  8. Interpreting and analyzing geotechnical data to establish type, classification and engineering characteristics of materials and preparation of geotechnical reports.
