The Employee Experience team within Microsoft Digital is the heartbeat of the employee experience across the company. The team powers, enables, and transforms the digital Microsoft employee experience across devices, applications, and infrastructure. They propel the company forward in terms of modern workplace patterns and practices and provide an inspirational enterprise blueprint for customers and partners.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Architect who has passion for technology, platform reliability, quality, customer empathy and driving results with measurable outcomes. This is a cross-organizational opportunity where you get to create vision and strategy for helping define and drive the future of client experiences for the Microsoft’s Enterprise. This position will work in close partnership with M365, Teams, Power Platform, and Security product teams to define and bring to life secure and productive collaboration experiences.   Our objective is to transform the Enterprise experience, making it as simple, intuitive, and reliable as possible while enabling the next level of productivity for both internal and external customers.   The position requires you to work with product leaders and architects across the company and has executive exposure to multiple business leaders in the company. 

This position offers 100% remote work within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Work with architects, engineers, and stakeholders of the M365, D365, and Power Platform areas.  

  • Provide technical subject-matter expertiseon one or more areas of the Microsoft 365, D365, and Power Platform service suites. 

  • Translate business requirements into a strategy for systems solutions. 

  • Be a communicator with a proven ability to drive for results. 

  • Use data and telemetry to make decisions and drive feedback into system design and implementation. 

  • Partner with other teams to improve products and processes to drive delightful. 

  • Leverage advanced technical expertise, judgment and decision making to coordinate multiple work streams and resources to resolve complex issues. 

  • Be the face of the MSD and Microsoft enterprise – this will include presentations and reporting to executive leadership and to Microsoft customers (CIOs, CTOs). 

  • Set up durable partnerships with other products, engineering groups across Office and Azure to define and drive solutions to complex, cross company challenges. 

  • Foster a healthy and inclusive team environment and mentor early in career individual contributors.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 8+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing and improving large scale enterprise service, including support for Production systems.   

  • 2+ years experience as an enterprise Microsoft Teams Room Systems, M365, Dynamics 365, Intune, or Power Platform service administrator. 

  • Experience in enterprise IT service engineering or architecture. 

  • Proficient troubleshooting client/server software issues across multiple platforms, such as Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS, Android and Self-Problem-Solving capability.  

  • Proficient using PowerShell scripts, VS Code, Azure, Power BI to drive automation and service health improvements.   

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship- based legal restrictions. Specially, this position supports United states federal,state, and/or local(or applicable country) United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

  • Problem-solving skills with technical proficiency and strategic thinking. 

  • Ability to innovate at a platform level and drive integrated, end-to-end solutions through the shipping process. 

  • Cross divisional relationship building skills and ability to collaborate with partners, ability to pull together technology and expertise across M365, Windows and Azure, to drive clarity across teams, agree on dependencies and common goals, and establish long lasting, trusted relationship with partner teams. 

  • Ability to drive for results and influence for impact, ability to drive clarity, communicate goals to key stakeholders, and motivate them to execute on time and at a high quality. 

  • Proactively identifies problems, proposes solutions, with demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity. 

  • Knowledge of Cloud service fabric, Kubernetes and Linux. 

Service Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
