Azure Storage is growing its development team focused on providing the world's lowest cost cloud-based storage. Azure Archive Storage service provides secure, low-cost, and energy efficient storage capable of preserving Exabytes of data for decades with the right balance between software and hardware interaction. We are looking for software engineers interested in helping us fulfil our vision of providing a storage service capable of satisfying the world’s ever increasing demand for cloud-based storage for many years to come on the application team. As a Software Engineer II, you will participate on a team of highly technical engineers to build and deliver a cloud service with many new algorithmic and scalability challenges. You will have an opportunity to make high impact contributions that enable our next generation archival storage hardware. This opportuntiy will allow you to advance our hyperscale storage system used daily by millions around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deliver cloud storage software on a team which obsesses about durability, availability, and scalability.

  • Provide insights which influence team direction and product design.

  • Build and operate systems to manage specialized storage system hardware.

  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.

  • Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Cloud Screening: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Candidates should be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience working on large scale distributed services and experiences with Windows Azure / AWS

  • The ability to build and influence broadly towards common goals and priorities with a firm sense of accountability for end-to-end project lifecycle

  • Skill in problem solving and diagnostics for a critical production service and excellence in software engineering practices and coding

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
