Timber Products Company Junior Engineer in Munising, Michigan

This position is responsible for performing routine, entry-level engineering tasks under the direct supervision of the plant engineer with the goal of developing more advanced engineering skills, developing and implementing manufacturing systems enhancements, and providing project planning and management of mechanical, electrical and control systems to improve manufacturing processes. Responsibilities also include producing detailed equipment designs and drawings in support of process improvement projects.

MAJOR TASKS:

· Comply with all state and company safety rules and regulations.

· Effectively coordinate work functions with co-workers and other organizational departments.

· Identify, analyze and resolve process, mechanical and electrical malfunctions, and make recommendations for improvement.

· Develop a working knowledge of solid fuel boilers and the auxiliary equipment.

· Define scope, and oversee work provided by contractors and venders.

· Work with other departments to define contractual terms for contract labor, supplies, and equipment.

· Provide capital project plans, define scope of work, budget, time lines, and expected benefits of the expenditure.

· Assist plant engineer in the development of new methods to improve product quality and process efficacy and efficiency.

· Seek continuous improvement opportunities and recommend process and equipment improvements to streamline the manufacturing process and improve overall safety.

· Assure all parties to a project are fully informed and updated on project design, changes and developments.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience and training.

· PLC programming and troubleshooting background a plus

· Proficiency with AutoCad, SolidWorks, Visio or other CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems

· 2-3 years of progressive experience in project design and management preferred

· Good listening and communication skills.

· Willingness to travel to other manufacturing sites & implement best practices within the operation

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
