The Physician Assistant practices as a direct patient healthcare provider under the supervision of a physician. They work with patients and their families to coordinate the delivery of care. This includes but is not limited to the assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of clients throughout the established plan of care. The Physician Assistant shall obtain health histories and perform physical examinations, order appropriate diagnostic test and treatment regimens, prepares and consents patients for procedures, assists a team of general surgeons as needed in the operating room, provides patient care in the in-patient setting and provides education to patients, families, and departmental staff as needed. The Physician Assistant will practice within the guidelines of the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

Minimum of two years PA experience preferred

Four years previous healthcare experience preferred

Education

Degree in an accredited physician assistant program

Successfully completed an educational program for physician assistants approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant or its predecessor or successor organization
