ROLE OVERVIEW:
The EHandS Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring workplace safety and regulatory compliance by conducting detailed risk assessments for processes and new equipment under general supervision. This role identifies and recommends corrective actions, balancing safety, fiscal responsibility, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the EHandS Specialist supports safety and quality improvement initiatives, collaborates on projects as directed by the manager, and proactively informs leadership of regulatory updates to ensure the companys compliance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicates and interacts with operation colleagues to positively influence plants EHandS awareness and culture.
- Delivers accurate data management and prepare routine and special reports, scorecards and analysis for local facility to improve performance through trending and action planning.
- Communicates EHandS regulatory and policy obligations to management and operations.
- Coordinates support and prepares for EHandS regulator inspections and/or inquiries.
- Arranges and/or conducts regular EHandS training on topics and content relevant to local operation.
- Utilizes existing tools and protocols for tracking and demonstrating EHandS compliance.
- Reports any imminent threat to human health or environment to regional management and operations as appropriate.
- Purchases safety equipment.
- Follow safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations.
- Ability to identify unsafe work practices and/or able to recognize processes subject to safety/environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to train and coach colleagues on issues relating to EHandS.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
