Position Purpose:

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Nampa, ID is hiring an experienced Groundskeeper to support the Engineering and Facilities Department year-round.

Under general direction of the Engineering Manager or designee, you will perform complex and responsible grounds maintenance; exercise independent judgement in the selection of work methods and procedures used in general ground maintenance projects. Consistently maintain the campus by providing a clean, safe and pleasant environment in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Under general direction of the Engineering Manager or designee, assume primary responsibility for the management of the Hospitals automobiles, and equipment as related to their initial set up, preventative maintenance, and repair. Maintain the Hospital's fleet in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 4 years of experience in landscape maintenance and fleet maintenance/service required.

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of landscape maintenance including irrigation system maintenance, turf maintenance, shrub and flower maintenance and planting, tree maintenance and planting, and safe a proper use of all industry related chemical applications.

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of automobile and landscape equipment maintenance and or service.

  • Administrative experience with managing records, invoices, and ordering of products or inventory.

  • Must have active driving privileges. If, during the course of employment, driving privileges change or colleague receives a driving citation, the colleague is required to notify their supervisor and/or HR.

What You Will Do:

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

  • Demonstrates ability to make decisions and solve problems. Manages established grounds contracts for St. Alphonsus owned property.

  • Works with Engineering Manager regarding complaints, requests, and problems.

  • Conducts Environmental Tours as required by observing work crews performing duties and determining if instructions and procedures are followed and safety rules are observed.

  • Manage SAMC-NA grounds Contractors as their primary point of contact, leading and directing the contracted vendor(s) staff as it applies to campus’ services, quality, and expectations.

  • Performs general grounds maintenance work including watering and mowing lawns.

  • Blows and sweeps sidewalks, parking surfaces and other assigned areas.

  • Operates and maintains mowers, sweepers, and other equipment used in the care of grounds.

  • Monitors campus for necessary grounds maintenance work to assure safety, resolve problems or notify others as appropriate.

  • Maintains all vehicles by conducting routine Quality Control checks. Consistently implements PM (Preventive Maintenance) program. Supports Campus needs for vehicle damage, breakdowns, and non-scheduled maintenance. Manages fleet for capital acquisitions and disposal of retired vehicles.

  • Receives, codes, and tracks invoices for supplies and services used and help develop budget needs for department.

  • Must have automotive trouble shooting and mechanical skills.

  • Written and verbal communication skills required. People skills and computer knowledge preferred.

  • Respond to emergency call outside of normal work hours.
