Position Summary:
The Information Technology instructional programs at CWI are looking for a highly skilled Systems and Network Engineer. This role requires both business acumen and technical expertise to implement, manage, and enhance the infrastructure that supports our dynamic classrooms and Security Operations Center (SOC). This position is responsible to maintain, design, develop, and integrate all stages of the network infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of reliable, mission-critical infrastructure with a focus on accessibility, optimization, and security.
Essential Functions:
• Manage and monitor all network and system installations, including configurations, testing, and maintenance
• Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies
• Use expert-level administration and optimization of hosts and servers to ensure high availability and appropriate resource
management
• Identify potential issues, propose possible solutions, and implement changes
• Craft custom scripts, reducing the requirement of human interaction
• Standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technology
• Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and document the design, maintenance, and
support procedures for routine tasks
• Routinely test software for bugs, redundancies, and security issues
• Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures
• Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions; oversee the overall backup strategy and daily operations for
secure backups and restore testing
• Engage with Dean regularly with reports on project status, activities, and achievements
• Communicate with stakeholders to identify what they want a system to accomplish
• Represent CWI on Idaho State Cyber Range
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must hold or be able to obtain a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) credential within 6 months of hire
• Current experience with or knowledge of:
programming languages and operating systems
current equipment and technologies
enterprise backup and recovery procedures
system performance-monitoring tools
active directories
virtualization
HTTP traffic
content delivery
caching
cloud computing (specifically Microsoft Azure)
• Experience in project management, application design and integration
• Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science preferred
