are responsible for
a variety of law enforcement activities, involving the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and regulations, prevention and investigation of crimes, and maintenance of order during an assigned shift.
The incumbent in this position will be
providing
law enforcement and crime prevention;
identifying
potential welfare, safety, security, personnel, visitor, and site problems;
maintaining
safety at District facilities by enforcing state and local laws and college policies; communicating information and responding to inquiries;
providing
emergency care;
and educating the campus community about safety, crime prevention, and emergency response procedures.
The position reports to the Chief of Police
and will work
independently under the general direction of the Chief of Police and a Sergeant.
This is a full-time, 12-months-per-year, classified position. The salary has
an appropriate placement
on
range
27
of the current Classified Salary Schedule. The starting salary range is $
5,829
to $
6,748
/month, with future steps up to $
8,200
/month. Placement is made based on experience. The college offers a fringe benefit package including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, employee

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Administers first aid to students, staff and/or visitors ( e.g. CPR, lacerations, etc.) for the purpose of providing immediate emergency medical care and/or contacting additional service.
- Arrests individuals engaging in illegal activities ( e.g. theft, drug possession, vandalism, etc.) for the purpose of apprehending suspects to prevent further illegal activities.
- Assists other community law enforcement agencies for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities on and off campus.
- Collaborates with community agencies ( e.g. law enforcement, courts, social services, health care, etc.) for the purpose of addressing individual cases and/or taking action regarding investigations, criminal activities, etc. for the safety and security of the college and people within.
- Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.
Enforces district policies as necessary (
e.g.
ticketing, disciplinary issues, etc.) for the purpose of implementing College Police Department processes and student code of conduct.
