BAE Systems Contracts Director III, ECS Contracts in Nashua, New Hampshire

Job Description

The Director of Contracts for the Electronic Combat Systems (ECS) Business Area is a senior leadership position responsible for all aspects of contract management in a broad and fast paced business environment. Provides direct leadership to a staff of 50 Contracts professionals, including senior managers, with geographic dispersion at New Hampshire and New Jersey BAE sites.

This is a highly visible leadership role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: participation in proposal preparation strategy and review/approval; negotiation strategy and the conduct of negotiations with customers; general advice and counsel on business and contractual matters to the ECS VP/GM; interpretation of contractual requirements as delineated in contract documents; ensure ECS business area compliance with both BAE policy and U.S. Government procurement regulations on all business/contractual actions (FAR, DFAR, export compliance, international contracting, etc.); coordinate the internal Request for Bid Approval (RBA) review process; response to ES Sector and INC Headquarters on a variety of data calls on performance metrics relative to the Contracts function.

  • Provides expert guidance and counsel to the business area VP/GM and adjoining leadership team, while setting functional direction through strategic, legal, and financial analysis.

  • Collaborates with senior external customers and stakeholders in the pursuit of new business opportunities that strategically position BAE Systems as an innovative industry leader.

  • Develop overarching negotiation strategies and collaborate with key stakeholders to influence the resolution of contractual issues encountered during execution of captures and programs, while meeting our risk position and protecting and leveraging the company s intellectual property as a competitive discriminator

  • Responsible for supporting and coordinating multiple classified contracting environments while ensuring compliance to critical business processes needed to operate the business

  • Provides functional leadership and oversight of large ($2b), complex Customer proposals including, but not limited to, cost/price and teaming strategies, negotiation, audit, and certification. Provides assessment and feedback on federal regulatory issues that impact the strategic direction.

  • Assess integrated organization and build a successful talent management strategy for the ECS Contracts organization that builds a diverse and inclusive team.

  • Willingness to travel 25%

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Problem Solving: Requires use of extensive Contracts knowledge, including FAR, DFAR, and Defense, and International contracting models, to drive business solutions.

Business Acumen: Significant Proposal Preparation experience and strong business acumen across multiple portfolios to develop and provide guidance of a strategic nature regarding customers, top line growth and overall performance of the Business Area

Interpersonal Skills: Experience working with business leadership at the Executive level to recommend strategic business decisions.

Negotiation Skills: Negotiates internally and externally, complex contract issues. Ability to influence key stakeholders throughout the organization to execute; recommend, drive and implement change based on best practices

Leadership Skills:

Previous experience leading large matrixed contracts teams with accountability for execution, accuracy and results. Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills and a focus on inclusive leadership.

Required Education and Experience

  • Active Top-Secret clearance

  • Bachelor s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • More than 10 years of work experience in Contracts, preferably in US Government Contracts and Military Aircraft markets

  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret SCI level clearance as needed

  • MBA, JD or other advanced degree

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $194600 - $330800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
