Position Description

The Administrative Services Officer 2 - MWS Home Buyout will be assigned to the Stormwater Division of Metro Water Services (MWS) and will assist with a variety of tasks associated with the Acquisition and Demolition of flood-prone homes. This position will focus on providing relocation assistance to property owners through USACE mitigation projects.

Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment, storm water management, and waste collection services for our customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. Our employees work together to service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts along with over 150,000 curbside waste collection customers. We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team.

Typical Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with property owners for relocation assistance.

  • Communicate daily through phone, e-mail, or in person with property owners or tenants.

  • Maintain confidential files with sensitive owner / occupant information.

  • Work with homeowner and occupants to determine eligible expenses consistent with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Act (URA)

  • Meet frequently with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Tennessee Emergeny Management Agency (TEMA) related to mitigation projects.

  • Evaluate properties for potential inclusion in future Mitigation projects.

  • Prepare requisitions and evaluate pay requests from a variety of venders to MWS.

  • Work closely with demolition contractor and other consultants related to environmental surveys, abatement, and restoration of purchased properties.

  • Compile required documentation to request reimbursement from USACE.

  • Track all costs associated with each property, maintain well organized files.

  • Attend public meetings as needed.

  • May include work related to the Community Rating System of the National Flood Insurance Program

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail.

  • Research returned mail.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree and One (1) years of professional experience in an administrative, financial, technical, or related field.

Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education

LICENSE REQUIRED

Valid Driver License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
